National Patient Flow Phase 2 data extract granted NZ Ministry of Health Compliance
NPF is a complex and challenging extract that maps a sequence of activities, events and sub-referrals (within a patient referral), to a DHB. MKM Health (with the assistance of the outstanding team at West Coast DHB), were pleased to obtain uniformly high (100%) acceptance rates for the first 3 months of data extracts.
The NPF is a part of the National Collections which provide valuable health information to the New Zealand Ministry of Health to help support decision-making in policy development, funding and at the point of care.
The NPF extract application is designed to simplify the view of the variety and complex hierarchy of records represented. It allows easy and flexible management of the records and data elements, through a touch-enabled point-and-click user interface. Ministry of Health returns files are fully reconciled against extracted records sent, with the purpose of maintaining an up-to-date view of records sourced from Patient Administration Systems (PAS) - and other relevant systems - that have been sent and accepted to the National Collection. The extract application also enables performance indicators such timeliness and record completeness and correctness to be monitored with each batch.
This follows on from the success of Phase 1, when MKM Health was the first organisation to achieve New Zealand’s Ministry of Health approval of extract compliance for National Collection with West Coast DHB. MKM Health is also assisting several other DHBs with upgrades from older extract applications to a new integrated platform, while keeping the applications up-to-date with Ministry requirements.
